Guardian and safety
February 1, 2007

The article published in the January 2007 issue of Glass Magazine may leave the impression with your readers that Guardian caused the death of a truck driver employed by a contractor at our DeWitt, Iowa, float glass plant.

That is not the case. The jury concluded that some of Guardian's procedures were deficient, but the jury also concluded that the deficiencies did not cause the accident. That is why there were no damages assessed against Guardian. The jury agreed with us that Guardian was not responsible for this unfortunate event and the jury verdict was in Guardian's favor.

Guardian is committed to the safety of its employees and contractors and is proud of the safety record at DeWitt and its plants across the globe.
