Great Glazing: Bridgewater House

The basics: The center of Bristol, England, is being reinvented with the largest mixed-use development to have been built in the city for 20 years. The centerpiece of the Finzels Reach development is Bridgewater House, an office development centered around a five-story, three-sided glass atrium. The atrium is designed to bring maximum light to each intermediate floor. Bridgewater House comprises some 110,000 square feet of Grade A office space, and is one of three office buildings in the development. The Finzels Reach development is scheduled for completion at the end of 2011, according to a release from atrium glazing system supplier Wrightstyle.

The glass and systems: Advanced steel framing system and laminated glass for the atrium glazing, designed to deliver acoustic control and fire protection. The system is designed to provide 30 minutes of fire resistance against fire penetration and transfer of excessive heat.
