The basics: The renovation of Missouri's St. Louis Centre, below, transformed an abandoned mall into the Seventh St. Garage at the Mercantile Exchange, a sleek, modern parking structure and retail space. Glass curtain wall fully encloses the 477,000-square-foot parking garage that houses 750 parking spaces and 85,000 square feet of retail space at the ground level.
The players: Architect, Forum Studios Inc.; general contractor, Clayco Corp.; glass fabricator, Lisec Shanghai Glass Machinery Co.; glazing system supplier, glazing contractor, Architectural Wall Systems.
The glass and systems: The exterior façade features 90,000 square feet of glass curtain wall, with clear heat-strengthened or tempered glass, depending on location. There are four different silkscreen line patterns at the garage levels; the translucent line pattern was created with a silkscreen on the No. 2 glass surface. AWS engineered, manufactured and installed the curtain wall, stainless steel metal panels, storefront and revolving entrances for this reclad project.
