Demonstration of Pleotint’s thermochromic glass

Fred Millett, director of sales and marketing for Pleotint, West Olive, Mich., demonstrates the company's Sunlight Responsive Thermochromic glass during Greenbuild. The glass passively tints when there is direct sunlight, allowing about 60 percent visible light transmittance in its clear state, and about 10 percent transmittance in its fully tinted state. The technology works through a thermochromic film that warms when hit with direct sunlight, darkening and effectively tinting the glass. During Greenbuild, Pleotint used a halogen light to simulate direct sunlight.
