Most innovative energy efficient glass product
Guardian Industries introduced its first commercial interior surface coating for glass, SunGuard IS 20. The new product brings the U-value performance of double-glazed, insulating glass units closer to that of triple glazed, and bumps up the performance of triple-glazed IGUs.
If triple glaze is specified, SunGuard IS 20 can help create a super-performing IG unit in buildings and climates where maximum heat flow resistance is desired, according to Guardian officials. SunGuard IS 20 also improves the effectiveness of Guardian’s advanced architectural glass when combined with any SunGuard coating. For example, when SunGuard IS 20 is teamed with Guardian SNX 62/27, the resulting product is the highest performing SunGuard glass available, featuring best-in-class light-to-solar gain and the lowest U-factor in a double-glazed unit, according to Guardian representatives.
Together, Guardian SNX 62/27 and SunGuard IS 20 offer a high performance glass with a visible light transmission of 60 percent, a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.25 and a U-value as low as 0.20 with argon fill.
SunGuard IS 20 is smooth to the touch and easy to clean with common glass cleaners. It also lacks the visible haze that might occur with hard coatings, delivering high visible light transmission, Guardian officials report.
