September 25, 2009

Kawneer Co., Norcross, Ga., launched in August 2008. The site is divided into three main sections: products, projects and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. The products section is dedicated to Kawneer’s green products and provides information on its featured portfolio of thermal, solar, photovoltaic and sunshade offerings. Site visitors are able to link back to to download CAD and spec information, and easily access LEED information to determine potential points for each product and LEED category.

The sustainable projects section highlights select LEED-registered or LEED-certified projects using Kawneer products that address the unique climate and environment of each building, as well as interior challenges such as thermal performance or condensation.

Designed as a working instrument, Kawneer’s LEED Planning Tool guides users to specific Kawneer products and solutions that can help in achieving LEED certification goals. The tool allows users to tie strategies to specific products and features sections for “Potential points” based on the recommended products/principles for each LEED category. The site also includes additional links and resources for users to learn more about LEED principles and sustainable design.

“Today, a company’s Web site is often the first place industry professionals go for product information and resources, so it is critical that a Web site not only contain relevant content, but be visually appealing and simple to navigate,” says Karen Zipfel, director of marketing. “Each aspect of the site was designed to provide architects and building professionals with easy access to information that not only aids in their search for sustainable products and information, but also puts the power to make sustainable decisions at their fingertips.”
