Hirings, promotions and appointments

Officials from Glasslam N.G.I. Inc. of Pompano Beach, Fla., appointed Gerhard Reichert as president. He previously served as director of engineering and vice president of business development at Edgetech I.G., Cambridge, Ohio. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.


Officials from Edgetech I.G. Inc., Cambridge, Ohio, promoted Rob Miller to quality engineer and hired John Burnett as regional sales manager in the Southwest United States.
Miller will assist the director of quality and continuous improvement in the implementation of lean processes, Six Sigma and ISO 9001:2000. Employed with the company for six years, he previously worked as technical service representative and product manager.
Burnett will represent Edgetech in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. He spent nine years as an account manager in California and Nevada for Truth Hardware Corp., based in Owatonna, Minn. He holds a Bachelor of Science in administrative management from Clemson University in South Carolina.

The Wagner Cos.

Officials from Milwaukee-based The Wagner Cos. rehired Jackie Heinrichs as manager of production control. Returning after two years as a project manager for Everbrite Inc., Reno, Nev., she will coordinate between sales, estimating, warehouse and manufacturing functions. She has experience with Wagner’s inside sales group, custom polishing sales and production control. She earned a bachelor’s in information technology from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee.


Dublin’s building materials group CRH, parent of Oldcastle Glass, Santa Monica, Calif., promoted Glen Culpepper to group finance director. He will succeed Myles Lee, who takes over at the end of this year as group chief executive. Culpeper joined the company in 1989, held a variety of positions in U.S. operations and has worked as chief financial officer of the Americas Materials Division since 1995.

Solaglas Windowcare

Solaglas Windowcare of the United Kingdom, owned by the U.K. division of France’s Saint-Gobain, added Chris Furnell as its first head of information technology and Richard Cocks to run its glazing operation in the Southeast and West.
Furnell previously served as IT systems support manager with Synseal Extrusions Ltd., U.K., a supplier of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride extrusions and conservatory roofing systems.
As commercial branch manager, Cocks will lead a team of glaziers and technicians operating out of Portsmouth, U.K. His focus will be growing the commercial business in the southern region by increasing the volume of glazing replacement work, securing new contracts and building the client base.

Glass Guru

Officials from Glass Guru Franchise Systems Inc., Roseville, Calif., announced Pat Powers and Janis Powers as owners of its new 14th franchise based in Santa Rosa, Calif. Pat Powers also owns Professional Window Cleaning of Santa Rosa that has served the North Bay area for 20 years.

Best Contracting

Bob Linford became Glazing Division manager at Best Contracting Services Inc., Gardena, Calif. He will oversee promotion, estimating and installation of glazing for curtain walls, storefronts, structural glass walls, windows, entries and glass handrails, among others. Before joining Best Contracting, he worked as general manager for Giroux Glass, Los Angeles.

Custom Glass and Fittings

Ray Younger joined Australia’s Custom Glass and Fittings as Queensland sales manager. He will help with company expansion into the Queensland market, adding to its business in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Canberra. His glass industry experience spans 20 years including 14 years in the Queensland glass market and six years in New South Wales. Custom Glass and Fittings supplies high end architectural glass products, performance glass products, stainless steel fittings and custom clad aluminium composite panel.

Wheaton and Sprague

Charles Shepard joined Wheaton and Sprague Engineering Inc., Stow, Ohio, as a senior engineer for the Building Envelope Division. He will manage projects in the standard curtain wall and panel market segments. Previously employed by Urban Engineers Inc., Erie, Pa., he brings 10 years curtain wall experience including managing structural engineering for large commercial projects. Shepard earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Akron, Ohio.
