November 4, 2008

The theme for Bystronic Glass, Aurora, Colo., at glasstec 2008 was “Glass and Energy,” and the company explored the areas of resource sustainability, environmental protection and energy-efficiency, among others.

Bystronic's new products for the efficient processing of architectural and automotive glass, included smart’lamiline, a flexible, entry-level glass manufacturing solution that integrates compact production methods with great cost/performance ratios. Available in different system sizes, including U-shape, smart’lamiline produces both standard and special laminated safety glass in stock sizes or individual sizes.

Smart’lamiline is especially designed for customers who are just getting started with laminated glass production or who want to concentrate on manufacturing specialty items with small batch sizes.

One of the features smart’lamiline offers is a fully automatic seaming station prior to preliminary lamination. The customer can freely decide on how many millimeters of protrusion the foil has to be seamed. The fully automatic seaming process is suited for any types of foil, including 12-layer foils with an overall strength of 4.6 millimeters.
Basic features include:
• Accurate, automatic assembly of glass plates
• Different system sizes, including U-Shape
• Lamination process supported by high-performance presses and a combination of infrared and convectional heating
• Options including automatic washing station and pre-nip with production data recording(laminoptic) to guarantee consistently high quality

The division of Bystronic Glass known as Armatec has designed and constructed lamination systems to a high technological standard for years. Its solid and efficient machine construction combined with an intelligent control system guarantees a high level of laminating process.
