“Before” and “after” billboard, Mr. Shower Door

Billboard marketing is a new approach for Mr. Shower Door, headquartered in Stratford, Conn., just outside of New York City, that allows the retailer to reach customers beyond the Manhattan crowd.

Located on a highway corridor jammed by commuters from southern Connecticut, this billboard features a “before” and “after” message intended to appeal to builders, plumbers, tile men and contractors. “All of these people are hard to reach with other advertising,” says President Tom Whitaker. “Media is changing. People don’t read papers or listen to the radio. Just ask my kids in their 20s. This billboard reaches 150,000 people a day—every day for those who are commuters.”
