1,800 new windows for biggest stimulus job

Workers quietly began work this week on the region's largest stimulus project - a $34 million update of the John Weld Peck Federal Building in downtown Cincinnati.

In a Monday morning drizzle, contractors from Hemm's Glass Shop removed a single window from the second floor rear of the building - and replaced it with a double-paned, argon-filled, fritted model designed to let in more light and less heat.

A team of government officials, architects and contractors will look it over, and if they like it, they'll order 1,777 more just like it, according to a May 19 Cincinnati.com report.
