AGC to shut down production line at Kingsport plant

Officials of AGC Glass Company North America confirmed to Glass Magazine that the company will shut down a production line at its Kingsport, Tenn., facility, as reported by TimesNews.net, Nov. 21.

The closure--set for first quarter 2012--will affect as many as 100 of the plant's nearly 300 employees.  Company spokesman Chris Correnti told TimesNews.net that some of the workers affected might be given other opportunities within the company, and it’s unclear how many will be laid off. Correnti said the business has been negatively impacted by an influx of imports from China, according to the article.
