Concern Over Falling Glass Closes Toronto Streets

Toronto police closed downtown streets March 7 due to concerns of falling glass from the Trump Hotel spire. While there have been no recent instances of glass fallouts from the hotel, glass panes fell twice from the tower in 2012 and has caused concern several times since, according to a CBC News Toronto report.  

Currently 130 highrise projects are underway in Toronto. "We need to ask some sharp questions to builders about how they're constructing these buildings," said Denzil Minnan-Wong, city councillor, in the report. "If this is happening now with buildings that have just recently gone up we can imagine what will happen five or 10 years from now."
