Bill Rau, manager of quality assurance for Crystal Windows and Door, passed away recently from ongoing health issues.

"Bill was a tremendous asset for Crystal," said Steve Chen, Crystal's CEO. "He brought a very professional discipline as well as over 30 years of experience in fenestration product design, production and quality to his work at Crystal. He built a great quality control team here at Crystal Windows, which will carry on the procedures and practices he implemented. Bill was a real out-of-the-box thinker, very creative. He shared his extensive knowledge and insights with the production staff and R&D. We are going to miss him very much."

Prior to joining Crystal in 2010, Rau served as engineering manager for project design and fulfillment with Architectural Window Manufacturing in Rutherford, N.J. Earlier, Rau served in design engineering capacities with both Kawneer/Alcoa in Norcross, Ga., and Graham in York, Pa., focusing on product development and design, and in-house and field testing code compliance. With Kawneer/Alcoa, he worked with architects and construction professionals across the country on project design, and spearheaded training and management for installation crews.

"Bill instilled a strong emphasis on quality and brought Crystal to a new level," said Joseph Chang, production manager for Crystal.  "He left a great legacy."
