Crystal Window & Door Systems, Flushing, N.Y., marked the completion of its 20th year of operation on May 15, according to a May 20 release. The company was started two decades ago by Taiwanese-American immigrant Thomas Chen with a small Queens, N.Y., operation fabricating aluminum windows for the local community. It has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers in the nation of both aluminum and vinyl windows, as well as high-end fenestration systems. Crystal today has production facilities in New York, Chicago and Missouri, vertically integrated operations, a national sales and distribution network, and international activities. It also has expanded beyond windows to establish operations in building products such as fencing, solar panels and aluminum extrusion and finishing.

The company has been recognizing and celebrating the 20th anniversary milestone in numerous ways with customers and employees over the last 12 months. Some of the recognitions have included factory barbecues last summer, a major customer recognition themed dinner event, company employee service awards, special corporate promotional apparel and revisions to the corporate tag line and logo. The year of celebration culminated in a grand 800-guest gala banquet attended by employees and their families, according to the release.

Crystal’s 20-year milestone of business success and growth has been formally recognized with special citations from the Queens borough president, the New York State Senate, the New York City mayor and the U.S. House of Representatives. Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Congressman Gary Ackerman further proclaimed May 15 as Crystal Windows Day in the Borough of Queens, the City of New York, and the entire nation, respectively.

“The 20th Anniversary milestone is indeed a happy occasion for Crystal Windows,” said Thomas Chen, president and founder, in the release. “However, I would be remiss if I didn’t note the two most important factors that have driven our past two decades of success and will drive our future success in the decades to come. All of this would not have been possible without the support of all our truly wonderful customers and the efforts of our dedicated employees. They are the best in the world and I thank each and every one of them.”
