Edgetech I.G., Cambridge, Ohio, made a special presentation at glasstec, Sept. 29, to announce the opening of its new warm-edge technology manufacturing facility in Heinsberg, Germany. “Europe is a crucial strategic market,” said Andy Jones, European managing director, Edgetech I.G. “In 2010, we experienced 85 percent growth; in 2011, we’re expecting an additional 50 percent.” The company has sales team and distributors in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, Poland and Czech Republic, he said. “In 2010, we had 28 fully automated lines across Europe; in 2011, we’ll have 36.”

“We’re excited to expand in Europe,” said Larry Johnson, executive vice president, Edgetech I.G. “We’re in 88 different countries now.” The new facility will primarily produce silicone-based products, and will be up and running in the first quarter of 2011, he said. Edgetech’s Neuss, Germany, office, established in 2004, will close and move over to the Heinsberg facility. “We will have warehousing at the new facility, and add manufacturing personnel,” he said. “Andy Jones will head the new facility.”

Edgetech’s European market is expanding and adding countries almost monthly, Johnson said.
