Florida Extruders sold, set to reopen

Sanford-based Florida Extruders International Inc., which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late April, was bought for $11.8 million by Benada Aluminum Products LLC, a newly formed company controlled by FTL Capital LLC of St. Louis. Benada intends to reopen the factory, according to a June 21 Orlando Sentinel report.

Monte Friedkin, president and CEO of the new company, said he is working to restart the Sanford plant and expects it to be operational by July 5. The Sanford manufacturer will no longer make windows; instead, it will make the extrusions, or frames, which will then be sold to other companies that make the finished product, according to the report.
