Gimav Reports Growth for Italian Glass Machinery Industry in 2013

Sales and exports increased for the Italian glass processing machinery industry in 2013, according to a survey from Gimav, the Italian Association of Glass Processing Machinery and Accessory Suppliers. During the year, industry sales increased 2.9 percent over 2012, and exports increased 3.79 percent year over year, according to the Gimav report.

In 2013, about 80 percent of glass production was exported. After coming to a sharp standstill in 2009, exports have been growing steadily: both the flat glass and hollow glass segments closed 2013 on a positive note, according to Gimav. By segment, flat glass machinery, accessories and special products saw exports increase 4.2 percent year-over-year, and hollow glass saw exports increase 3.16 percent.
