Guardian, Viracon debut high performance products at Greenbuild

During the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, Nov. 19-21, in Boston, Guardian Industries, Auburn Hills, Mich., and Viracon, Owatonna, Minn., announced expansions to their high performance glass offerings.

Guardian announced its SunGuard CrystalGray, a combination of the company’s CrystalGray float glass with the latest SunGuard coatings. Architects and designers now have five new performance and appearance glass options.

“These are our best performing low-E coatings in terms of energy savings and the most popular appearance options,” said Chris Dolan, Guardian director of commercial glass programs. “SunGuard CrystalGray from Guardian gives architects the freedom to realize their vision of a more neutral glass appearance without sacrificing energy performance.”

Viracon introduced its VUE-50 high performance insulating glass.

“We asked designers what they wanted in high performance glass, and we listened,” said Rick Voelker, vice president of technical services at Viracon. “That’s how Viracon VUE-50 was developed. We focused on a coating that would provide the right amount of visible light transmittance by providing natural daylight and reducing potential glare."

Viracon’s VUE-50 offers a visible light transmittance of 49 percent on clear glass and more than 50 percent on low-iron substrates. It also provides low interior and exterior reflectance and low ultraviolet light transmittance.
