After more than 42 years in the glass fabrication and distribution industry, Ricky Shaw officially retired from the glass business on Oct. 29. Shaw was president of Solar Seal/Shaw Glass before selling the company to Consolidated Glass Holdings in 2012. He stayed on as a senior vice president for CGH until his retirement. Shaw has been leading professional in the glass industry and especially in the Northeast, leading many trends in equipment purchases and product introductions.

With a mix of more than 100 customers, vendors, friends, and family on hand, a celebration was held Oct. 28 to honor the career and work of Shaw. The Solar Seal and Shaw Glass business units date back to 1950, and Shaw took over leadership of the operations in 1981.

The retirement event featured speeches by Consolidated Glass Holdings President and CEO Paul Cody, PPG Director of North American Sales Mark Seeton, and Shaw’s son’s Brian and Eric. At the end of the event Shaw added a few comments and finished with a family salute.

“I’m proud of my family and the business we built,” Shaw concluded.
