Pilkington stops production in Plymouth

Glass manufacturer Pilkington is ending production in Plymouth [U.K.] with the loss of 52 jobs.

The firm blamed the economic downturn which had led to a drop in demand for replacement windows which it makes on site at Estover.

Manufacturing operations will be transferred to Pilkington's factory in Bristol from the end of December, according to a Dec. 5 BBC News report.
