PPG Industries reported net sales for first quarter 2012 of $3.8 billion, an increase of 6 percent versus the prior year’s first quarter. Glass segment sales were $256 million for the quarter, down $2 million, or 1 percent, year-over-year, according to an April 19 release.

Following the release, PPG Chairman and CEO Charles Bunch told industry analysts that the company will continue to be patient with its glass business but isn’t ruling out a sale, according to an April 19 article from the Pittsburgh Business Times.

According to the article, Bunch told an analyst who posed the question of a possible sale: “Absent a really attractive offer that creates value, we are going to be patient and wait for what we think is the good timing.”
