Remodeling activity reaches record levels; offers opportunity for glass retailers
Residential remodeling activity rose again in July, marking the 21st straight month of growth, according to the BuildFax Remodeling Index. The July 2011 index rose 24 percent year-over-year to 130.4, the highest number since the BFRI was introduced in 2004.
Activity in the Northeast was up half a point (.7 percent) from a year earlier, as was the West, up 26 percent. Activity in the South grew 7 percent compared to July 2010, and Midwest activity levels rose 5.6 percent.
There has been an upswing in the sales of building materials and the number of renovations greater than $10,000, BuildFax officials said in a release.
