GIMAV Issues Statement on Rescheduled glasstec

GIMAV sent an official announcement to its members informing them that an “overwhelming majority” of Italian companies will not participate in the 2021 edition of glasstec. The show, staged in Düsseldorf, Germany, was postponed from 2020 to June 15-18, 2021. GIMAV leadership stated that the association itself would still attend, if glasstec is still held in 2021.

GIMAV leadership say many factors influenced this decision, including support for Vitrum―which will be held Oct. 5-8, 2020 in Milan, Italy―the fact that major international companies and organizations will not attend, the timing of the show, and the potential difficulties posed by COVID-19. “Even though we regret doing this, because we are aware of all the work the organizers have done, it is our duty to inform all of the stakeholders of that which, in discussions with our members, emerged as a fact,” says Michele Gusti, president of GIMAV.
