Solar edge and warm-edge sealants

Koemmerling Chemische Fabrik GmbH, Germany, showed its HelioSeal PVS 101, a synthetic polymer-based sealant with integrated desiccant for dehydrating the airspace in photovoltaic and thermal module constructions. HelioSeal PVS 101 provides exceptional adhesion to glass surfaces and an excellent barrier to water vapor and gas permeation, according to press materials. It can be used as a single seal in EVA or thermoplastic encapsulated photovoltaic modules. The company distributes HelioSeal PVS in North America through Adco Products Inc., Michigan Center, Mich.

The exhibitor also showed its Ködispace 4SG thermoplastic warm-edge system for gas-filled silicone insulating glass units. Ködispace 4SG is fast-setting and provides good initial adhesion, followed by strong chemical bonds to the glass and silicone secondary sealants, thus providing excellent long-term stability, according to a release. This warm-edge system is especially suitable for structural glazing applications in areas with extreme temperatures.
