Glass cutter
The Jetstream Waterjet CNC cutter from Foremost Machinery, Northbrook, Ill., cuts through virtually any glass material, from plates up to 1.56 inches thick, to laminates, to cracked glass composites. For harder applications, a garnet abrasive is fed automatically to the jet. The ultra high pressure hydraulic intensifier pump generates 50 HP/90,000 PSI.
Setup is quick and easy with the CAD-CAM drawing program or by downloading existing computer drawings. The Optical Digitizing System uses industrial strength German optics attached to an X-Y axis robot that plots templates automatically with detailed accuracy within .020 inch. An optional loading/unloading platform for the bridge style assures safer and convenient handling of large, fragile and heavy glass plate.
Short runs are practical as no tool changes are required. The environmentally friendly Jetstream Waterjet uses only water and garnet and does not produce any poisonous fumes or toxic gases. Two models are available with plate capacities to 12 feet by 8 feet, in cantilever and bridge styles.
