The 2017 Glass Magazine Awards: Nomination Details

Award Categories

Project Awards

To qualify for most innovative project categories, projects must have been completed between January 2016 and June 2017.

  • Most Innovative Curtain Wall Project (buildings 6 floors or more)
  • Most Innovative Curtain wall Project (buildings 5 floors or fewer)
    These categories highlight innovative glass curtain wall façades. All types of glass curtain wall systems (including structurally glazed façades), and all types of framing materials, are eligible. Curtain wall projects will be judged on performance and aesthetic attributes, and on the distinctive elements of the glass and glazing systems that set a project apart from traditional curtain wall jobs.
  • NEW! Most Innovative Glass Floor, Stair or Rail Project
    This category highlights glass floors, stair treads or railings. Projects will be judged on performance and aesthetic attributes, and on the distinctive elements of an installation that set the project apart.
  • Most Innovative Decorative Glass Project
    This category highlights interior and exterior decorative glass projects. All styles of architectural decorative glass are acceptable. Projects will be judged on performance and aesthetic attributes, and on the distinctive elements of an installation that set the project apart.

Factory and Field Awards

  • NEW! Most Impressive Feat of Fabrication
    This category highlights the custom, creative and challenging fabrication processes required to achieve desired aesthetic and performance goals on a specific architectural glass project. Submissions should come from glass fabricators and should include detailed descriptions of fabrication challenges and processes for a project completed in the previous 18 months. Photos should document both the fabrication process and the final project.
  • NEW! Most Impressive Feat of Installation
    This category highlights impressive glass and glazing installations. Submissions should come from glazing contractors and should describe the installation process on a challenging or unique project completed within the previous 18 months. Submissions should describe the challenges the project presented and the solutions the contract glazier took to overcome those challenges. Photos should document both the installation process and the final project.

Product Awards

  • Most Innovative Machinery or Equipment 
    This category highlights new machinery or equipment for glass fabrication, metal fabrication, system assembly, product transportation or product handling. Machinery and equipment for factory or field uses are eligible. Submissions should describe the need that the machinery or equipment satisfies for the customer, and should demonstrate the distinctive elements that set it apart from similar machinery or equipment on the market.
  • Most Innovative Web Tool, App or Software Product 
    This category highlights new web tools, apps or software products. Eligible products include those targeting users in the glass and glazing industry, or those intended for members of the design community. Submissions should describe the need that the tool, app or software satisfies for the user, and should demonstrate the distinctive elements that set it apart from similar products on the market.
  • NEW! Unique Industry Innovation 
    This category recognizes innovative glass and glazing industry products not covered in other award categories (glasses, coatings, windows, components, hardware products, technologies, tools, etc.). Submissions should describe why the product benefits the customer, how it serves and improves the industry, and what sets it apart from the competition.
