2015 Top 50 Glaziers: The Trends

Historical Statistics: A look at how the Top 50 Glaziers have performed from 2005 to 2014

This chart depicts the percentage of Top 50 glaziers experiencing year-over-year sales increases and decreases from 2005 to 2014. (Only companies that provided exact sales figures are included.)

The percentage of companies reporting gains slipped slightly from 2013, from 74 percent to 71 percent, though the market is experiencing an overall growth trend. Glaziers performed much better than during the 2009 to 2011 downturn, and have reported three consecutive years of stronger growth.

The percentage of companies reporting an increase in 2014, however, remains below the peak years of 2006 and 2007 when 82 percent and 91 percent of companies, respectively, reported y-o-y gains.

The degree of year-over-year sales increases and losses provides a telling picture of historical market performance. The above two graphs indicate the extent of y-o-y gains and losses during the last 10 years for Top 50 companies reporting exact sales figures.

During 2014, 37.5 percent of companies reported more modest gains of 0 to 25 percent and 12.5 percent of companies reported gains of 25 to 50 percent. An increase of glazing companies—21 percent, up from 9 percent during the previous year—reported sales that surged 50 percent or more, y-o-y.

Of companies reporting losses, most reported modest declines in sales in 2014. Twenty-three percent of companies saw losses of 25 percent or less, with 6 percent reporting decreases of 25-to-50 percent. No companies reported sales decreases of 50 percent or greater. Not since 2011 has a Top 50 Glazier reported y-o-y sales decreases in excess of 50 percent.
