Eye on GlassBuild: Erin Johnson

In advance of GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo, Sept. 12-14 in Atlanta, GlassMagazine.com will feature brief interviews with various people connected to the show.

This week's insight comes from Erin Johnson, marketing director, PR, Advertising and Marketing Materials, for Quanex Engineered Products Group. Erin has seen it all at GlassBuild and offers some great reasons on why attending the show is so worth it.

How many GlassBuild America trade shows have you attended? Do any favorite memories stand out?

Erin Johnson: I've attended and been an exhibitor since the inception of GlassBuild in 2005. Prior to that, as part of Edgetech, we exhibited at the NGA show since 1998. Our group always enjoys the time with customers and suppliers at GlassBuild. My fondest memory was in 2006 when we featured pro billiards player Ewa Mataya Laurance in our booth, and NGA featured Rusty Wallace in their pavilion. Rusty heard Ewa was on the show floor and he made a beeline for our booth to shoot pool with her. The crowd loved it, and we couldn't have planned for that chance encounter!

There's a great buzz building about what attendees might see at the Quanex exhibit. What are you most excited to show?

EJ: This is an exciting opportunity for us, as it is the first GlassBuild where Quanex is bringing together four innovation leaders: Mikron, Truseal, Edgetech and Homeshield . At the show, we will demonstrate to customers the integrated, energy-efficient window systems and solutions now available to them from one company.

Our theme this year is "Driving Your Business Forward," which is a reflection of our commitment to helping our customers grow their businesses with our unique product and service offerings. Customers visiting the booth always ask, "What is the next best thing?" Our comprehensive, innovative lineup of products answers that question. We will have sales and marketing reps stationed throughout the booth to show customers first-hand how we're pushing the industry to the next level of energy efficiency, sustainability and process efficiency. And, we're going to throw in a little fun too! You'll see our theme incorporated throughout the booth, so buckle up, rev your engines – it's going to be an exciting ride!

The show is coming up fast. What would you say to people who might still be on the fence as to whether or not to attend?

EJ: GlassBuild is the premier industry event to see what is new and to stay ahead of the competition. In today's market, it's important to stay on the cutting edge of the industry, be current on the latest trends and knowledgeable about new legislation. GlassBuild offers the opportunity to do all of that and more. Attendees will walk away feeling prepared and ready to respond to the market's demands.
