Clover Architectural Products
Cummins Inc. Headquarters // Indianapolis

Cummins Inc. relocated its headquarters from Columbus, Ohio to a newly built, nine-story structure in downtown Indianapolis, placing it closer to major transit ways. The headquarters' new design balances daylight and views. Clover Architectural Products, cloverarchitecturalproducts.com, supplied custom metal fins and sunshades for the project. The company fabricated 6,000 square feet of horizontal sunshades for Cummins, with some systems radiused to follow the shape of the building. Additionally, Clover fabricated 6,000 lineal feet of 8-inch-wide vertical fins that run the length of the upper floors and attach to a custom curtain-wall bracket between the curtain wall units. The metal products were finished with Kynar two-coat Mica in smelted steel. Clover’s team, replacing another metal fabricator, was added late to the project. “This made it a very challenging project timewise as we had to coordinate and decipher [the previous company’s] drawings and create our own,” says Tom O’Malley, partner and director of sales, Clover. The team met the challenge by collaborating closely with Blakley's, blakleys.com, the glazing contractor, and Erie Architectural Products, erieap.com. For the project, Erie Architectural Products supplied 100,000 square feet of EnviroFacades EF 30 Series unitized and stickbuilt curtain wall systems.  Deborah Berke Partners, dberke.com, was the project architect. F.A. Wilhelm Construction Co., fawilhelm.com, was the general contractor. For the tower and podium, Viracon, viracon.com, supplied 1-inch insulating VRE1-65 vision glass, translucent 1-inch insulating VE1-2M, and 1-inch insulating clear glass with V948 medium gray frit. Cristacurva, cristacurva.com, fabricated vision glass for the tower podium, comprised of 1 1/6-inch insulating NP-61 on clear for the No. 2 surface, with Curvaprint in Frost on the No. 4 surface, and spandrel glass comprised of 1 1/16-inch insulating clear with Curvaspan medium gray on the No. 2 surface.
