The Architectural Billings Index rose to 54.7 in November, the highest reading since January, according to the American Institute for Architects. Architectural firms reported healthy billings and project inquiries, despite anxieties about an economic slowdown.

Billings for firms with commercial/industrial specialization saw the strongest increase, though firms across the board demonstrated growth. Northeast firms continued a strong recovery, after stagnating earlier in the year, and Midwest firms also registered slow, but positive, growth. Billings at western firms continue to ease; firms in the south continue to see stagnation.
