April ABI Shows Moderate Increase

Architecture firm billings rose for the seventh month in a row, according to the Architecture Billings Index, compiled by the American Institute of Architects. While the market is seeing challenges in continued labor shortages and increasing material costs and interest rates, AIA officials report that the ABI registered at 52.0 for April, a moderate increase from March’s posting.

The West lead in billings at 55.1, while the Midwest billings eased slightly, registering at 49.6. By sector, commercial/industrial also softened slightly to 52.7, down from last month’s 53.1.
