The Crystal Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Crystal Window & Door Systems, sponsored the modern art exhibit The Tree of Hope. The 25-foot-tall structure has an 8-foot diameter base comprising 25,000 baseballs contributed from more than 30 countries. Most have been used in games from the Little Leagues up through the Major Leagues. Approximately 10,000 LED lights illuminate the structure, which currently is on display at the company’s headquarters in Flushing, New York.

Meant to symbolize the unity and positive energy art and sports bring to the world, the Tree of Hope took two years to complete from concept to installation and is planned to be an exhibit at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics baseball events.

“As a longtime supporter of the arts, I am very pleased to sponsor the Tree of Hope and its creator, Lin Shih-Pao,” says Thomas Chen, Crystal Foundation chairman and chairman and founder of Crystal Windows. “I feel the true hidden value of this contemporary work is the incredible international response to Lin’s invitation to donate baseballs to the project. Countries from around the world are represented here in the spirit of unity and hope, as its lighting ushers in the Lunar New Year.”
