Peter J. Weith, 68, of San Diego, passed away late last week, according to an April 20 release.

Weith founded Hegla’s U.S. operations in 1995 and had led the global company’s growth into the U.S. market until his retirement a few months ago. Although semiretired, he was still actively involved in both sales and product development projects and was scheduled to retire on June 30.

Weith is survived by his wife, Barbara, who confirmed that no public funeral service is planned. She will hold a small gathering with a few close friends at the house which is what Weith would have wanted.

Barbara Weith indicated that anyone wishing to send a memorial in her husband's name should contact PCRM. Weith was an avid member of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. PCRM is a non-profit organization.
