The National Glass Association's Protective Glazing Council and Protection Engineering Consultants will host the first joint Security Window Design Workshop & Training, Aug. 14-16, 2018. The event will be held at the Westin Tysons Corner in Vienna, Virginia.

The event begins with a one-day workshop of six 45-minute presentations addressing current and emerging window products and systems designed to withstand natural threats (wind, hurricanes, tornado, seismic and fire) and man-made threats (blast, ballistics, forced entry and electronic).

The two-day training will take place on Aug. 15-16 and is a continuation of Protection Engineering Consultants' past Blast Resistant Window Design training classes. This training will address design criteria and standards, computation of threats, overview of design methods, and window system design including glazing, mullions and connections, and retrofits. Design methods will cover static analysis, dynamic analysis and testing, including an introduction to SBEDS-W and advanced analysis methods. Problem sessions will allow for hands-on design examples using provided computers.
