Upward Trend Continues in Construction Spending

Construction spending for October 2017 registered at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,241.50 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s report on monthly construction spending. October’s figure represents a 1.4 percent increase from September’s estimated $1,224.6 billion, and a 2.9 percent increase from October 2016’s $1,206.6 billion.

Nonresidential construction, private and public, came in at $717.6 billion, a repeat of October 2016’s figure, though a 2.1 increase from the previous month’s estimate.
