Longtime Viracon employee Dudley Otto passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 12. Otto joined Viracon as an architectural field representative in 1987 and retired from his full-time duties in March 2010. In September 2010, he returned to Viracon on a part-time basis, working with the customer service team.

“We have lost a dear friend and valued colleague. It is a very sad day for the Viracon family, and for [Owatonna, Minnesota,] as well,” says Garret Henson, Viracon’s vice president of sales and marketing. “He was known as ‘Mr. Hockey’ in Owatonna for all his years of coaching the Owatonna High School hockey team, and many years of teaching in Owatonna. His infectious laugh, willingness to help with everything, and always looking out for the Big ‘V’ were an inspiration to many … and made coming to work a bit brighter on a daily basis. He will be missed.”

A celebration of Otto's life is set for 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 18, at the Owatonna Elk's Club.
