75 Years of Glass Magazine

Essential industry education and news for the glass and glazing industry

glass magazine cover changes over 75 years

2025 marks the 75th anniversary of Glass Magazine. For an impressive three-quarters of a century, the publication that was founded in 1950 as the Glass Dealer, the official newsletter of the National Glass Dealers Association, now the National Glass Association, has been a source of essential industry education and news for the glass and glazing industry. It officially became Glass Magazine in 1984 and has seen the NGA and the industry through 14 U.S. presidents, 11 economic recessions, the rise of the glass skyscraper, tremendous advancement in glass and glazing product solutions and production processes, and more.

In the pages of Glass Magazine, readers learned the impact of industry-shaping events such as Hurricane Andrew and the Oklahoma City Bombing, which drove demand for protective glass solutions. Published through the Great Recession and the COVID pandemic, Glass Magazine provided business owners with need-to-know information to keep their doors open during unprecedented times. To document top trends and market forces across the industry, Glass Magazine launched in-depth surveys and research reports for all segments, including Top 50 Glaziers, Top Glass Fabricators and World of Glass tracking global float glass production.

Every edition of Glass Magazine is dedicated to providing glass industry readers with information to better their businesses, track market trends and create safer workplaces. We use this platform to highlight how glass, with all of its multi-functional capabilities, is a preferred material for applications across the built environment. We highlight all that glass does—for building performance, for occupant comfort and wellness, and for the environment and the world.

Throughout 2025, Glass Magazine will document this notable anniversary with a look back at the incredible evolution of the glass industry. We will feature glass companies that have celebrated 75 years or more in business. We will look at the major advancements in the industry, with coverage beginning in this edition, where we explore step changes and future development in float glass in the World of Glass annual report.

Plus, keep an eye out for a few other 75th-anniversary surprises from the magazine and the NGA.

Before I close, I want to thank all of you who continue to support Glass Magazine by picking up every issue, passing it along to colleagues, and setting it out on your showroom or lobby tables to show off this industry to customers and project collaborators. Thank you to our contributors—our subject matter experts—who offer valuable insights for the betterment of the industry. And thank you to our advertisers that partner with Glass Magazine to bring this essential glass industry education to readers.

Here’s to the next 75 years!
