Northwest Glass Receives Honor for Flood Cleanup Efforts

On June 22, 2024, Northwest Glass was hit with unexpected flooding at its facility in Spencer, Iowa. Seventy-five percent of the town was seven feet underwater. Northwest Glass says it lost everything except its buildings. The president of the company's home also had six feet of water. Since then, the company has not received financial help from the state or any funding from FEMA. Northwest has since re-opened with the help of its employees volunteering cleanup efforts, demo and rebuild.

Northwest Glass recently received the Business of the Year award from Megan Jones, Iowa State Representative, for their efforts during the flood to bring a small business back to the community. "She has helped most businesses and residents that have been affected by the flood," says Northwest Glass President Candace McGuire. "It was such a great honor for a glass company to receive that kind of recognition."
