PGT Custom Windows and Doors and NewSouth Window Solutions to Host Truck Rodeo

For the first time, PGT Custom Windows and Doors and NewSouth Window Solutions by MITER Brands are holding a truck rodeo for the company's Florida-based professional truck drivers. Professional truck drivers are classified as drivers that possess a Class A commercial driver’s license, at least one year of continuous employment with PGT, and at least one year without involvement in any type of motor vehicle accident while driving a commercial vehicle.

The competition

The competition will allow each truck driver to demonstrate their driving and inspection skills, knowledge, and professionalism through a series of tests, including a written examination, pre-trip inspection test and skill test. 

The skills test course will be a series of driving challenges simulating everyday operating conditions, including operating a tractor trailer within a small lot and navigating a truck through six challenges: The Serpentine, Offset Alley, Parallel Parking, Alley Dock, Straight Line and Stop Line. These challenges will test the skill of the driver not only in the individual challenge, but also measure their ability to size up the overall driving situation in moving from one problem the next.

The specifics 

Two rodeos will take place: one in Venice and one in Miami. The champion from each rodeo and the next two highest-scoring drivers will have the opportunity to represent their company by participating in the Florida Truck Driving Championship in Daytona Beach in June. The rodeos are happening on May 11, 2024.
