k-Space hosted U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) in mid-December 2023. She learned firsthand how k-Space metrology tools support growing both the compound semiconductor and solar panel industries.
Tour details
Following a tour of k-Space engineering and production facilities led by CEO and co-founder Darryl Barlett, Representative Dingell held a Q&A session with k-Space staff. The focus was on the potential of the CHIPS and Science Act for Michigan-based technology companies.
Questions ranged from how the CHIPS Act can benefit smaller technology companies, to developing a stronger green energy manufacturing base in Michigan, to the national security benefits of making semiconductor chips in the U.S. She also spoke briefly about the 2024 election, student loans and how tech companies can effectively partner with public research universities.
What k-Space says
“We welcomed the opportunity to give Representative Dingell a tour of our facilities. k-Space is in growth mode and Congresswoman Dingell was able to see exactly how we design and build our industrial and semiconductor metrology tools. Seeing firsthand the various semiconductor wafer measurements our tools make, plus getting a hands-on tour of our 3D-printing facility, were highlights of the tour. We are very thankful for her visit and appreciate her energy and support of small business in Michigan," says Barlett.
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell represents Michigan’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Natural Resources Committee.
