Faye Wood, who helped grow Wood’s Powr-Grip from a small startup business to an industry leader, passed away on Jan. 5, 2025.
Ellen Faye Prevost was in the early years of her teaching career in Wolf Point, Montana, when she met Keith Wood, son of WPG founder Howard Wood. Faye and Keith married in 1962, beginning a partnership filled with love and devotion that lasted 60 years until Keith died in 2022.
The couple returned to Wolf Point in 1970 when Keith’s father asked him to help run the family company. Faye would join Wood’s Powr-Grip in 1974, when the company had only 15 employees. Together, Keith and Faye grew the business and developed strong relationships with distributors worldwide. Keith and Faye were regular attendees of regional glass expos and often traveled to Germany for the International Glasstec shows. The couple often had businesspeople from overseas stay at their home in Wolf Point, with Faye as their hostess.
Faye fostered a family atmosphere that shaped WPG’s company culture. It proved so strong that, when the couple made the difficult decision to relocate the company from Wolf Point to Laurel, Montana, in 1990, more than 30 employees moved with them.
By the time Faye retired from WPG in 2002, 100 people were working at the company, which had grown from a small startup business to an industry leader. Wood’s Powr-Grip continues to thrive to this day under the leadership of her 3 sons.
