CRL announced availability of an optional decorative grid system for its recently launched 690/695 Sliding Door System. The new grid system offers an attractive aesthetic enhancement and design flexibility for interior office spaces.
Grid system details
The grid system consists of aluminum flat strips and u-channels with an adhesive backing for easy horizontal or vertical application directly onto the glass. Key attributes of the new grid system include:
- For use on 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch tempered glass
- Available in 118-inch or 94.5-inch stock lengths
- Can be cut to desired length
- Free placement on glass
- Matte black finish
Invention of new soft-brake design
The sliding action of the CRL 695 is made possible through creation of an advanced soft-brake mechanism that reduces the two-bodied double soft-brake system typically found in sliding glass doors to one component. The re-engineered soft-brake is also scaled down to a compact 16-15/16-inch length for more robust performance and increased durability. With ultra-narrow 2-1/2-inch tall headers, the amount of visible hardware is greatly reduced, enabling the design of expansive, all-glass interior spans.
The 690/695 Series also features quiet operation. Glass panel heights can be adjusted 1/4 inch up or down for fast, efficient alignment. No extra piston is required to absorb impact from the sliding panel, resulting in simplified installation and enhanced durability.
Key features and benefits of the 690/695 sliding door system include:
- Reduced opening force to operate the 695 Series
- Easy-to-install sidelite channel track
- Tested to 200,000 cycles
- 1/4-inch door height adjustment
- Slim 2-1/2-inch overhead track height
- No glass drilling required
- 3 activators for height regulation on 695 Series
- Min door width of 34-1/4 inch for 695 Series
- Max door height: 118-inch
- Max door weight: 330 pounds
- Accommodates 3/8-inch to 1/2-inch monolithic tempered glass
- Wall/glass mount, ceiling mount and drop ceiling mount kits are available
- Standard finishes: matte black, brushed stainless anodized, and satin anodized
New sidelite channel track
The new easy-to-install bottom channel track is dry-glazed and uses an innovative snap-on system to secure sidelites in place quickly and with minimal labor. Unlike wet-glaze u-channels, the 690/695 snap-on system allows for simplified adjustment or complete replacement of glass panels.
What CRL says
“The new grids add a distinct, industrial look to interior spaces,” says Mark Suehiro, technical director of architectural hardware, CRL. “The ground-breaking engineering complements the elite aesthetics, resulting in a sliding door system that appeals to both interior designers and the office workers who ultimately utilize the space.”
