The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance announced its 2022 Summer Conference will be held virtually instead of taking place as a hybrid event with options for participation both in-person in Montreal, Quebec, and online. The event dates remain unchanged, with the conference taking place Monday, June 6, through Thursday, June 9.
This decision was made by the FGIA Board of Directors based upon input from past conference registrants regarding attendance at the event in a recent survey, which took into account company travel policies and border protocols that disallow entry into Canada by unvaccinated individuals and require five days of quarantining for anyone returning a positive result on COVID testing mandated for travel.
"We are very proud of the success we've had with hybrid events hosted to date, and it's disappointing that this Summer Conference will not be held as a hybrid event as expected. However, there was a clear indication from our members via the recent survey that many will be unable to attend in-person," says Dan Parrish, FGIA Board of Directors chairman and engineering manager for Pella Corp. "Our plan remains to host one in-person conference in Canada each year, including holding the 2024 Summer Conference in Montreal."
"The Summer Conference meeting schedule will continue to address association business and committee work with additional focus on Canadian issues. The same high-quality speakers and information-rich sessions will be offered to all participants despite the platform change," says Janice Yglesias, FGIA executive director. "Networking, as with all FGIA events, will also continue to be a focus of the conference, with opportunities to connect with industry peers throughout."
More details about speakers, panels, committee meetings and other sessions at the FGIA Virtual Summer Conference will be provided when registration opens in mid-April.
