The new $80-million Clearwater Marine Aquarium will have five times the space for guests with new retail, food court, and most importantly, a new 1.5-million-gallon dolphin habitat. The expansion was designed by Fisher and Associates LLC, and the general contractor was Creative Contractors.
Rhyno Glass, a Florida contractor specializing in high-end interior and exterior commercial glazing, was the glazing contractor. Rhyno installed the Kawneer IR501 hurricane-resistant storefront system, the Kawneer Trifab 450 glazing system with a 1-3/4-inch sightline, and the SaftiFirst GPX fire-rated hurricane glazing system.
“It was an exciting project to be part of,” says Wyatt Castellvi, president Rhyno Glass. “Our design team worked with Fisher and Associates architects to select the right glazing systems and provide the details and CAD drawings for the project. Our installation team worked closely with Creative Contractors in coordinating and ensuring the glazing install was completed on time and met the highest quality standards.”
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a 501(c) non-profit organization. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research.
