Vetrotech Saint-Gobain announced that its PYROSWISS fire-resistant safety glass has been extended to a range of UL-listed, fire-protective, and impact-safety 45-minute applications. The expanded product, PYROSWISS 45, meets UL 9, 10B, 10C; CAN/ULC S104, S106; and NFPA 80, 252 and 257 fire-rated standards and ANSI Z97.1, CPSC16 CFR 1201-CATII, CAN/CGSB-12.1-M90 impact safety ratings. The company expanded the tint-free PYROSWISS from 20 minutes to 45 using the original process to create highly tempered safety glass while passing the hose stream test.
Benefits of PYROSWISS 45
With no UV-sensitive interlayers, no films, or embedded wires in PYROSWISS 45, the glass realizes a 90 percent visible light transmission in its low-iron option. Sound transmission values are among the lowest for its size on the fire-protective market, with the added benefit of UV stability.
PYROSWISS 45 can be used in 45-minute rated openings, including windows, doors, sidelites, and transoms; is suitable for hollow-metal framing and doors (3/4 inch glass thickness with minimum stop height of 5/8 inches; and is fully sourced and manufactured in North America.
Corporate response
“PYROSWISS was our first fire-protective product,” says Kevin Norcross, general manager, Vetrotech Saint-Gobain’s North American facility in Auburn, Washington. “This update expands on that original listing while providing the modern, no-compromise approach that Vetrotech has become known for. Our customers will value the imperceptible protection of PYROSWISS 45 as much as its close match to non-fire-rated building glass.”
