A new Lattuada-Knittel robotic solution offers one polisher and one robot on a track. This specific line is dedicated to customers that would like to increase the automation level of their edging department. A new feature is a device to control the correct position of the edge of the glass. The customer can load the glasses on the rack even without using a reference/zero point, just roughly in the middle of the rack. So when turning it 90° the bottom edge can be a little bit higher/lower compared to the standard zero line. This is the task of this new device, to check, before loading the glass, the real position of the edge to have a safe and smooth loading. The robot handling the glasses is not fixed on the floor but running at very high speeds on a dedicated track. The construction of the rack enable the robot to reach a maximum speed of 2.35 m/s. The line can be operated just by an operator who only has to load a rack and start the line, all glasses will be automatically grinded on four sides and unloaded on another rack or sent into a washer. The line can communicate with the operator through a pager.
