After several months of flat or declining billings at architectural firm, the Architecture Billings Index registered growth for the second month in a row in November. With any score over 50 denoting growth, the ABI registered at 51.9 in November, as compiled by the American Institute of Architects. Other readings suggest modest growth, as the value of new design contracts held steady at 52.9.
Overall business conditions also improved, as billings growth improved for all regions except the Northeast. Firms with all specializations reported increases, which is the first time since February 2019.
