New York Classifies Some Construction as Nonessential, Halts Projects
March 27, 2020
As of Friday, March 27, some construction work in New York will be deemed nonessential, announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio’s remarks on WNYC radio, reported in the New York Times. The new policy is a reversal of previous guidance that exempted construction from stay-at-home orders, but is in agreement with Governor Cuomo, according to de Blasio. Construction projects related to health care, airports and hotels may continue; other jobs must stop, though workers will be given time to secure job sites, according to reporting.
