Industry-first Carbon-Neutral Silicones from Dow

Showcasing 145,000 square feet of unitized aluminum curtainwall system, Two Clinton Park in New Rochelle, New York, USA, features clean, modern lines – and has the distinction of being the first building in North America to be built with carbon-neutral sealants.

To help address the need for sustainable building techniques – without sacrificing performance or productivity – Dow introduced the world’s first global Carbon-Neutral Silicones for Building Façades program in 2021. The program features verified carbon-neutral DOWSIL™ Brand Silicones to help reduce embodied carbon in high-performance building façades.

The Two Clinton Park project is especially notable because all portions of the façade were constructed using carbon-neutral silicones from Dow:

  • DOWSIL™ 982 Silicone Insulating Glass Sealant (secondary sealant)
  • DOWSIL™ 983 Structural Glazing Sealant (structural sealant)
  • DOWSIL™ 795 Silicone Building Sealant (weather sealant)

Ultrafab's Multi Hollow Bulb

Today’s window and door designs demand a competitively priced seal with low closing forces and long-term resiliency that will provide protection against short term and long-term air and water infiltration. Ultrafab's Multi Hollow Bulb is the answer.  During the early stages of compression, the MHB seal requires minimal force. At the later stages of compression, the outer bulb makes contact with the inner bulb and closing forces build rapidly to provide excellent sealing pressure against the mating surface. This high level of sealing pressure is what makes the seal extremely effective against air and water infiltration.

Ultrafab's MHB sealing technology lost the least amount of functional height when compared to all other commonly used sealing options now on the market. All MHB seals come with the newly designed slip coat feature. This new technology allows for an EXTREMELY low co-efficient surface. Multiple profiles, colors, and backing options available.
