BIPV glass
Vitro Architectural Glass launched Solarvolt building-integrated photovoltaic glass modules, which combine the aesthetics and performance of Vitro Glass products with CO2-free power generation and protection from the elements for commercial buildings. Solarvolt BIPV modules can be used to enhance various components of commercial building exteriors, including balustrades and balconies, overhead glazing and skylights, façades and opacified spandrel glass, all while passively generating solar power. Solarvolt BIPV modules can be used with virtually any Vitro Glass product.

Pilkington Pyrostop® from TGP Provides Fire-Resistance with Style
ADVERTISEMENT Pilkington Pyrostop® from Technical Glass Products (TGP) is a fire-rated and impact-safety-rated glazing material that blocks radiant and conductive heat for up to two hours. The UL-classified and labeled product is fire-tested as a wall assembly, allowing unrestricted amounts of glazing in fire separations. See how the design team for the Empire State Building Observatory renovation project combined it with narrow-profile Fireframes® Curtainwall Series fire-rated frames to preserve the city’s spectacular views while also providing critical fire resistance.

Decorative laminated glass
Bendheim’s new HexaLite is a honeycomb-reinforced glass. The laminated safety cladding material is ideal for elevator interiors, lobbies, and designs requiring large glass panels and long spans. HexaLite’s aluminum honeycomb backing lends strength and rigidity to any glass thickness, while minimizing the overall weight of the panel. It can add as much as 1/2 inch to the thickness of the panel, with just 1 pound per square foot additional weight.
